Welcome students to the art of flying lesson. I'm sure you'll have a great time here. My name is prof. Raven.
In my lessons you'll will learn a lot about flying; both Theoretical and practical. We might find some talents here too for the quidditch teams.
First I'll start with the theoretical part and then we'll go outside and I'll learn you the base of flying.
Let start, shall we?
A long time ago wizards and witches wanted to fly. To fly as highly as the birds and to feel free.
But the ones who couldn't turn themselves to winged animagi couldn't fly of course. And they weren't satisfied that they could only levitate a few feet above the ground. And the people who could transform themselves into winged animagi, wanted to fly without wings. So they needed a solution. They could use a spell on an object so it could transport them somewhere else and they decided they would use a broom. The broom was practical and easy to handle. But most important was that if muggles found it, they wouldn't be suspicious about it. First the broom was only used for transportation, but later on when the broom began to be more comfortable it was also used for pleasure.
Ok that was for the theoretical part now for the practical part. let's go outside.
Ok stand next to your broom and hold your arm above it. Then say clearly 'UP'! Don't be ashamed if it doesn't work the first time. Now we all have our brooms. Mount it and hover on it a few feet above the ground. Be careful. Yes that's good.
I think that this will do for today and we're running out of time by the way. I'll see you next class. Be sure to have done your homework.
Homework:
1) Why did we wanted to fly?
2) Why did we choose the broom as our flying object?
3) For what is the broom used for?
This time it is easy. If you want extra credit (1 point more on you homework) anwser me this questions. It is quite easy if I might say so.
4) Explain to me the wronski feint. ( Don't make you explanation to long or you won't get the credit at all)
5) What other things can we also use to fly on? Think middle-east.
